GREENGUARD Test Methods

• Why Test?

  The GREENGUARD test methods are the most comprehensive indoor air quality tests available. They allow a manufacturer to capture all of the data required to assess acute and chronic exposure, earn LEED and green building credits, and determine compliance with the GREENGUARD emissions standards. Data obtained from these initiatives can be used to assess compliance of product groups with a variety of international labeling programs.

• How Is the Test Performed?

  Products are tested for emissions of formaldehyde, total volatile organic compounds, and other required criteria following the scientifically validated GREENGUARD test methods. Testing is conducted in controlled, environmental chambers and emissions are measured using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), mass spectrometry, and other techniques for specific chemical analysis. Sample handling, testing and data assessment is performed.

• What Data Will I Receive?

  You will receive a full report outlining test procedures and data in chamber concentrations and emission factors. Data will include a listing of each individual VOC found. Exposure concentration in µg/m3 or ppb (part per billion) will be reported and compared to current emissions requirements of the respective GREENGUARD standard. A full report on a specific product can be leveraged to achieve GREENGUARD certification. Information and technical support are also provided to assist you in completing GREENGUARD certification requirements.
