• Why Test?

  Commercial products including, computers, monitors, printers, copy machines, fax machines, plotters, or consumer televisions, video and audio systems, ovens, toasters, hair dryers, and air cleaners, can all benefit from chemical and/or particle emissions testing. Test data from these methods can be used for comprehensive risk assessments and to contribute to sustainability initiatives such as Blue Angel certification for printers or GREENGUARD Certification for electronic products.

• How Is the Test Performed?

  Product testing is completed in validated stainless steel environmental chambers where airborne emissions are measured as the machine runs, prints, or copies. Products are tested for emissions of formaldehyde, ozone, dust, benzene, styrene, and all other VOCs, using scientifically validated protocols. High performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and other techniques are used to conduct chemical analysis. UL AQS also performs specialized ultrafine particle analysis, which provides manufacturers with data to meet international product evaluation criteria.
